"Making God Laugh "

“A powerful moving story that makes you cry from laughing so much in the beginning, to making you cry because it touches your heart in the end.”
Kansas City Examiner

Author Sean Grennan, depicts one typical American family over the course of 30 year’s worth of holidays. Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill’s grown children—a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star—all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes too, as old family rituals are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up. As time passes, the family discovers that, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations. Comedy at its best! (Produced in cooperation with Playscripts, Inc.)

"Unnecessary Farce"

Two cops . . . Three crooks . . . Eight doors . . . Go! In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But… there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s being videotaped, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes. Author Paul Slade Smith has mastered the comic shtick of in-one-door and out-the-other while the plot weaves you through mix-ups and mayhem you won’t believe. This is one funny show you don’t want to miss! (Produced in cooperation with Playscripts, Inc.)

"Vaudeville Variety Show "

A summer favorite for the whole family! At its height, Vaudeville played successfully to all economic classes. By the late 1890’s, Vaudeville had large circuits, houses in almost every sizable location and was especially favored in frontier settlements. We are proud to keep this popular and traditional style of entertainment alive at the Opera House Theatre. Join us for great family fun as we feature the best of satire, music, comedy, skits, hilarity, and hi-jinks! (Produced in collaboration with the 2016 Opera House Theatre ensemble.)
