Colleen "Binky" Watson | Artistic Director
Colleen (aka Binky) brings 26 years of experience in acting, directing and teaching to the Opera House Stage. Colleen received her BFA from the University of Montana, Missoula. She has toured with Montana Repertory Theatre and the Missoula Children’s Theatre. She makes her home in Helena with her husband, Kevin and two children, Jordyn and Liam. She has spent thirteen years as an instructor with the award winning Grandstreet Theatre School where she has written and directed several short plays for her students, her favorite being W-hiff the W-rangler. In 2006, she wrote a short play for the Grandstreet Middle School Students called, Super Heroes Every Middle Schooler Should Know. Although much of her life revolves around her children and Grandstreet "kids", she is very happy to have directed the adult musical review, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change three times with the same lovable cast and band at Grandstreet in Helena. For the last eight years, Colleen, with the help of her theatrical friends, has produced the yearly, "Montana Actor’s Benefit" raising money for worthy actors and theatres in Montana. In addition to her teaching, directing and producing obligations, Colleen has played a wide array of roles. Her favorites include Golda (Fiddler on the Roof), Mama Rose (Gypsy), Adelaide (Guys and Dolls) and Roxie Hart (Chicago). Last spring she played Sister Aloysius in the Helena Theatre Company’s production of DOUBT. This is her sixth season with the Opera House, her fourth as Artistic Director. |
